Career planning for new graduates has always been challenging but the challenges facing the class of 2020 increased substantially with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, which stood at 4.8% in January, has increased to 15.0% in September 2020, although the true rate is probably being masked by governmental supports to workers.
AWS Educate Challenge
The AWS Educate Challenge (AEC) 2020 is an inter-university challenge where students from universities across the UK and Ireland will compete to stand a chance of winning trophies, Amazon vouchers, Alexa devices and an exclusive invitation to virtually meet Amazon student recruiters based in London and Dublin.
Students can register for the challenge here from 14th September and complete as many pathways and badges as possible between October 5 and November 23.
1st -10th place: €200 voucher
11th -20th place: €150 voucher
21st -30th place: €100 voucher
An invitation to virtually meet with student recruiters to receive CV and Interview Coaching and attend talks to learn about job roles from current employees and hiring managers.

Vodafone Graduate Programme
The Careers Hub will be hosting a webinar with Vodafone. The webinar will take place on the 21st of October at 1pm, Join us and you'll get to hear all about Vodafone, their graduate programme and application process and tell you about life as a graduate in Vodafone. They will have current graduates detail their experience and there will be a chance for students to ask any questions they have.
The Vodafone Graduate programme is tailored to all students of DBS.

Jobs Expo Online Event
Jobs Expo Dublin will be a virtual careers fair this autumn due to Covid-19 restrictions. Jobs Expo features hundreds of active job opportunities and is the only careers exhibition of its type to feature FREE ADMISSION. With unemployment still at a high level in Ireland, Jobs Expo will provide job seekers with real opportunities to find new employment across a wide variety of industries.
We will be keeping all attendees updated with further instructions on how to get access to this free online careers fair closer to the event.
