This three year full-time Level 8 programme provides students with a sound educational experience that will enable them to acquire a solid grounding in legal principles and the fundamental features of the Irish legal system. It provides an understanding of the institutions of the law as well as their social, economical and political contexts. But most excitingly, the programme is accredited by the Honorable Society of Kings Inns for the purpose of eligibility to sit the entrance exams for the Barrister-at-Law degree programme.
The programme content of the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) improves and develops students powers of reasoning, clarity of thought and the ability to analyse and express complicated issues. Students cover core topics in first and second year, including Contract Law, Criminal Law, European Law and Company Law. Third year is when it gets really interesting, allowing students to pick their specialty subjects from a range of modules including Medical Law, Human Rights Law, Commercial Law and Media Law.
