Google building new €150m data centre in West Dublin

Google said today that it has started construction on a new €150m data centre at Profile Park in West Dublin. Some 400 jobs will be created during construction, with the first phase expected to be completed later this year. The two-storey data centre is being built alongside Google’s existing data centre which opened in 2012. Google also said today that it has completed the purchase of 31 acres next to its facilities in Profile Park that will give the company flexibility for future growth. “The data centre that we built in Dublin in 2012 has worked really well for us and created around 30 full-time jobs,” said Ronan Harris, head of Google in Ireland. Applications are open to graduates of a Level 8 honours degree (or equivalent) in business or non-business disciplines. A detailed CV and proof of English (where applicable) will also be examined during the application process. Applicants required to submit evidence of English must submit an IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) for direct admission.
Students who hold an IELTS score of 6.0 can take part in the DBS Pre-Masters English course in July in advance of the September MBA intake. The overall fee for both courses is €11,890 however students who successully complete the English course will receive a €2,000 discount to the overall fee.

MA in Addiction Studies
Specialised programme for Humanities/Social Science Graduates

The MA in Addiction Studies is a formal exploration of addictions from a variety of academic and scientific perspectives: sociological, cultural, psychological, anthropological, and psychoanalytical. The programme is concerned with how these perspectives interact and how they differ from each other. The aim is to educate students so that they can carry out research in the field of addiction and thereby critically inform policy making, as well as management of addiction services. The programme also provides clinicians with a strong theoretical foundation from where to approach the treatment of addictions.
Key Features of the MA in Addiction Studies: - Suited to those with a Humanities / Social Science degree seeking to acquire a postgraduate qualification in the area of Addiction
- Also suitable for applicants with clinical training in health or social care who wish to apply a knowledge of the theory and approaches to addiction to their clinical work
- Graduates will be qualified for relevant positions in academia, as well as in research for public and private bodies
- In addition, graduates can work at a strategic level in healthcare settings, in semi-state bodies and in government agencies shaping polices on addiction treatment both within institutions and in society as a whole.
