What is an MBA worth in today's job market?

In an article from the Irish Times analysing the worth of obtaining an MBA, President of the MBA Association of Ireland Robert Cooper said that whatever career you choose an MBA has a number of tangible benefits. "It's the most highly regarded qualification by senior business people. Many employers would stipulate an MBA qualification for some of their roles. It also provides students with a set of business tools to help them deal with complex challenges, which is especially important in the current envirnmoent". Robert goes on to say that "MBA graduates will typically operate at a higher level and obviously that's important from an employer standpoint".
