Focus on DBS School of Arts

Did you know that we currently offer 12 programmes within the School of Arts?

In 1999 DBS acquired the School of Arts from LSB College and since then we have continued to offer students a wide range programmes in the areas of Arts and Humanities. This acquisition subsequently led to us to become Irelands first private college to be awarded accreditation from the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Programmes on offer in the school include areas such as Psychology, Social Science, General Arts, Film Studies and Journalism.

DBS is also renowned for the fantastic range of School of Business programmes which offer students the opportunity to study Accounting, Marketing, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, Digital Media and Event Management. Check out the complete list of School of Business programmes today.

One of the most popular programmes currently on offer is the BA (Hons) Psychology which is a HETAC awarded level 8 honours degree which is also fully accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland. This degree award was the first outside of the University sector to receive this accreditation and it remains an extremely valuable aspect of the programme. Having the PSI accreditation allows students to progress to postgraduate study in any other college or university and our graduates regularly proceed to these specialist awards. You can apply for this programme by putting the course code DB562 in the Level 8 section of your CAO.

New facilities, opened in 2010 in the Castle House building on Georges Street, include Media Labs and Studios for students who are currently completing one of the more creative programmes in areas such as Film Studies or Media Studies. These facilities are state of the art and offer students hands on experience in their chosen fields whilst also providing a better understanding of the career opportunities.

Why not check out the complete list of programmes currently available in the School of Arts on our website. Alternatively our Admissions office operated a drop in service from 8.45 - 5.15 Monday to Friday in our Aungier Street building and can be contacted on 01-4177 500 or by emailing admissions@dbs.ie

Careers and Services Team
Clubs & Societies in DBS

DBS Student Services are an integral part of college life. The Student Services Department caters exclusively for students needs. One of the department’s main roles is the facilitation of personal and academic development. In DBS we take a holistic view to college life. Academia should be integrated with a stimulating social scene.

Having a balance between work and life is something that we regard as important. We offer a variety of support from personal advice to organising sports teams and societies. In DBS we have a strong sporting culture, offering students the opportunity to join a number of teams from Soccor, Rugby and Basketball to Cricket and GAA. If sports isn't your thing, we have over 13 societies that students can join such as;

  • Film Society
  • Psychology Society
  • Drama Society
  • Radio DBS

Check out the Student Services section of the website for a full list of all the Societies in DBS and get more information on the services on offer to students.
