Welcome

Welcome to the new academic year at Dublin Business School. While the country has made very good progress in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, it is still influencing how we deliver our teaching and provide service to our students and others in the DBS community. This document sets out some information and guidance that describes the expected experience during the 2021/22 academic year.

Health and Safety

Safety of staff and students is our top priority. We are following all government guidelines and will keep up to date with any developments. We promote the uptake of vaccinations, but will not request details from staff or students to confirm they are vaccinated. We have put in place many measures to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus and we ask everyone to take personal responsibility to minimise its spread. There are sanitising stations across all campus buildings; we require facemasks to be worn in class and all public spaces; common areas will have seated-only areas and numbers will be capped. People must not congregate in large groups within a DBS building or outside. When in corridors or common areas it is important to follow directional signs and to keep moving as quickly as possible to your destination.

Masks

Masks are to be worn at all times while on campus, including in classrooms. If you have a medical condition preventing you from wearing one, please contact student.services@dbs.ie

Timetables

Please check your “My Timetable” regularly for any updates or changes. You will be notified by email to your DBS Email address, if your classes are week on/week off due to social distancing requirements. If this is the case, you join the classes live online when you are not on campus.
If this is the case for your group, your schedule of on/off will be found here. If it is not there, it doesn’t apply, and you won’t have received an email telling you it applies.

Joining online classes

If you are joining an online class via Zoom, please ensure you are using your DBS Zoom account. Then click on the “Join live class” link in the DBS Online Class block at the top right of your respective Moodle page.

Coming to campus

Please avoid coming to campus at any time unless you have on campus scheduled classes. This will help minimise contacts while at DBS.

Printing

In line with our policy of having a more sustainable and green campus, printing from Moodle will no longer be free. Our printers are still available, however, we would discourage printing and ask that you make more use of technology for note taking.
