30,000 flock to feast at Taste of Dublin 2014
Flavours from around the globe were enjoyed at premier Irish food event
Over 30,000 people celebrated over the past weekend at one of the capital's most exciting cultural events and the undisputed highlight on the culinary calendar at Taste of Dublin 2014, held in the picturesque Iveagh Gardens. Keen food lovers, both local and international, visited the gardens in their droves for four days of summer eating, drinking and entertainment. 20 of the country’s latest, greatest and hottest restaurants served up their finest in an unbeatable alfresco gourmet feast, while 100 producers provided a bounty of the best food and beverages, ensuring that guests sample and shop for a range of produce in the laid back atmosphere of a boutique food market.

Celebrity chefs, cool cocktails and summer style were all on display as visitors sampled local and international cuisine from the finest bakers and chefs based in Ireland. Families, food shop owners and buddings chefs of tomorrow all embraced the taste in the relaxed setting of the Iveagh Gardens turning the annual event into a major success once again.

Spotlight on BA (Hons) in Social Science at DBS
A focused syllabus for a successful career

Whether your interest is in progressing towards a career in social care, professional social research or policy analysis, for example, or whether you are interested in a broad-based undergraduate education, the BA (Hons) Social Science is the degree for you.

From social policy and ageing to language and crime, students will be challenged to think in a rigorous and scientific way about social processes, institutions and policies. From the first to the final year of the programme there is a consistent emphasis on training students to carry out their own research and to critically challenge the world around them.

Learners graduating with a BA (Hons) in Social Science will, depending on final year grades, be eligible for postgraduate training in social science related areas in Ireland and abroad, such as social work, addiction studies, sociology, anthropology, criminology, research methodology, etc. The knowledge base and skill set acquired during their years of study will also equip learners for postgraduate work across a variety of other fields. Those learners who wish to seek work directly upon graduation will be ideally placed to gain employment commercially, in the fast expanding niche of social research in established institutions, or on funded research projects. Nongovernmental organisations, the communications industry and the emerging information sector have also shown high levels of demand for graduates trained in social scientific research methods.
