A welcome from Dublin Business School

Warm greetings from Dublin Business School.  Dublin Business School has been providing academic and professional training for almost 40 years and is Ireland’s leading independent college offering over 100 accredited courses to more than 9,000 students from Ireland, Europe and further afield.  Dublin Business School has a long tradition of welcoming international students and we are proud of the diversity amongst our international presence attending the College each year and are keen to develop further links with international students worldwide.

In an exciting and progressive initiative, Dublin Business School together with Xiamen University are offering joint programmes in the area of accounting and finance for undergraduate students.  Participating students will have the unique opportunity to transfer to Dublin Business School for their final year of study. We hope this will allow students to become thoroughly acquainted with the professional knowledge, language, learning culture and lifestyle in Ireland and we feel this will be a hugely beneficial venture in their academic and personal development. Our ethos at Dublin Business School is to provide programmes which are highly focused and relevant to domestic and international students which employ innovative approaches to teaching and learning. We are confident that this initiative will provide students with a rewarding and memorable experience, as they further their education and develop their language skills in a new and welcoming environment.

Thank you for your interest in this unique learning experience.  We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to DBS.

Dublin Business School: BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance

The BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance degree programme is designed to prepare students for a career in the accounting and finance function in business. It features a blend of specialised accounting and finance subjects together with general business subjects.

It aims to develop an awareness of the international relationships between finance and other business disciplines, to develop a critical and methodical approach to problem solving and decision making in a financial context and to develop the ability to interpret and communicate financial and other information. It covers a wide range of essential accounting and financial disciplines such as auditing, taxation, financial accounting, management accounting and finance, and also provides options for additional study in areas such as business policy and law.

On completion of the three year BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance degree at DBS students can obtain exemption from Part I and Part II of the ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) professional qualification. ACCA is the global body for professional accountants and aims to offer business-relevant, first-choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management.

Why Ireland

Ireland, or “Eire” in Irish, is famous for its history, culture, beautiful countryside and the hospitality of its people.  From the exciting modernity of Dublin to the breathtaking wonders of its unspoilt countryside, Ireland offers you a thoroughly energizing adventure in another culture.  Located just a mere stone’s throw from mainland Europe, Ireland’s small size and close proximity to other European countries offers a multitude of easy travel opportunities.

Dublin is one of the most exciting places in the world to be a student. It has a population of 1.5 million, with all the amenities of a big city and yet still retains a small town atmosphere.
