For those seeking a broad understanding of current Irish Law, our Diploma in Legal Studies and Advanced Diploma in Legal Studies will provide an introduction to the core aspects of Irish law and the legal system, as recognised by the legal profession. It is intended to provide an understanding of Constitutional Law Principles, Contract, Tort, Criminal and Company Law issues and the law as it relates to property in Ireland.

Our popular Diploma in Employment Law provides students with an overview of the laws and regulations that affect the functioning of the employment relationship. The course examines the duties of both employees and employers and attempts to provide students with a broad understanding of employment law issues through the analysis of existing legislation and case law.

This course is especially relevant to human resource executives, legal secretaries and trade union or employer’s association representatives. In addition any person who has a general interest in the area or is affected by any of the areas covered by the course will find the content of relevance and interest

At this turbulent time in the corporate world, the Diploma in Company Law aims to develop students knowledge and understanding of the purpose of Company Law in a business context and guide students in the legal principles involved in the formation, ownership and management of a company. It will equip students with the knowledge of the Common Law rules and the legislation regulating companies and expose them to cutting-edge debates in company law and provide opportunities for students to develop critical skills in these areas.

Diploma in Media Law seeks to familiarise students with the basic concepts and structure of media law. Students will look at the various forms of media law today, concentrating on defamation, court reporting and copyright law as it exists in Ireland and the UK. It will further explore more specific issues in relation to awards in defamation cases, privacy and examine general contract principles as they underlie entertainment law.

Applications are now being accepted for these courses, due to commence in Spring 2013. For futher information, and to see the full range of Legal Diplomas on offer at DBS this year, please visit our website.
