Skills Gap in the ICT Sector in Ireland

There is a serious skills gap in the ICT sector in Ireland according to the Chairperson of the EGFSN, Una Halligan. According to the Figures in the National Skills Bulletin 2013, there is a persistence of skills shortages in the areas of ICT and high-tech manufacturing. (Read more)

There is a high demand for employees with ICT skills in Ireland. Symantec announced this week that they will create '400 high-skilled jobs' at its new European Customer Management Centre in Dublin.

Also this week, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD is currently on a five-day trade and investment mission to China and Japan with the meetings focusing particularly on the ICT and financial services sectors. It aims to attract investment and jobs to Ireland from multinational companies from China and Japan, as well as support Irish companies seeking to increase their exports to the two markets.

Employees with ICT skills are in high demand so why not reskill or upskill for free at Dublin Business School with a Springboard course in this field.
