DBS wins Business School of the Year 2015

DBS has been named Business School of the Year for the third year running at the Chambers Ireland / InBusiness magazine Editors Choice Awards in the Hibernia Club, St. Stephen’s Green.

The awards were run by Chambers Ireland and winners were chosen by the editorial team of InBusiness magazine; based on the criteria of growth, profile, range of services and customer care. They recognise and honour exceptional business achievement and innovation in the Irish business community.

Editor of InBusiness Magazine Joseph O'Connor said: “The awards aim to honour both companies and individuals across Ireland who have made an outstanding contribution to the Irish business community in 2015. We were delighted to recognise people and businesses that are constantly innovating and improving their service and customer offering.”

Over the past number of years, InBusiness Magazine has reported extensively on the state of business affairs in Ireland,
but these awards represent an opportunity to celebrate the success stories in Irish business.

Careers Fair

On Thursday 26th of May in our Castle House Campus held a Careers Fair and we had a hugely successful day with some high profile companies in attendance such as IBM, PayPayl, Trinity, Citi, Service Source, Adecco, to name but a few.

This was a hugely success event with our students interacting with many employers.

All our programmes have been designed and developed in collaboration with industry and the professional bodies so that on graduation in addition to your academic qualifications, you will have the skills and knowledge for a successful career.

We assist students to develop their abilities and broaden their experience so they leave their course ready for their chosen career.

Through a combination of workshops, one-to-one advice and employer events, our dedicated careers service will help students focus your ambitions on realistic career goals. Further information on our Careers Service can be found here.

This link highlights the ongoing efforts of our Career Service staff of working with students to help them find employment after graduation.

Spotlight on: Varsha Ann Jacob, an MBA Student at DBS

Varsha Ann Jacob, from Bangalore, India, has just completed her MBA in Project Management with Dublin Business School. She was drawn to DBS after reviews that described the college as “one of the top private business schools in Dublin.”

"The Project Management course which I chose to do is a very specialized business course that I would recommend as it had the perfect blend of all the business elements to make a good project manager; which I think is a necessary job requirement in any field,” she explained.

Varsha Ann also explained how the class was taught in different ways, encouraging team work and also simulating real life business scenarios, readying them for a career in project management.

Away from studying, Varsha Ann was actively involved in the many extra-curricular activities available to students in the college. She was a member of the women’s soccer team and the Surf Society, taking a trip to Bundoran, Donegal, for a surf camp organized by the college. Her soccer team, were rewarded for their efforts throughout the year at the annual formal ball in the Hilton hotel. Their season included “several eleven a side matches against UCD and IT Tallaght; which would not have been possible without all the practice sessions and the support and efforts of our coach, John Martin.”

Varsha Ann says she owes her first job in Dublin to attending a Careers Fair held in the college. At the event she met representatives from Real Nation, a company dedicated to services in Education, Health, Environment, Consumer and Trade.

She spoke to them in detail at the open event and then applied online for a job, and has now been working for the company for 10 months.
In conclusion Varsha Ann says, “I can’t thank DBS enough for making my Masters such a pleasant experience.”
