Interested in a Career in the Irish Film and TV Industry?

A recent Irish Film & Televison Network (IFTN) report asserts that "the Irish industry can confidently stand alone as one of the strongest and most vibrant years of solid high quality production.

Record revenues of €168 million reported in 2013 by the Department of Art’s IFB and all general reports point to a sector which is building a powerful resource of film and TV professionals across business, creative and craft, that continues to punch above its weight on the world stage".


"The past 12 months of production reinforces this, as from low to high budget there is an abundance of quality offerings for audiences of all tastes.

Films such as: John Michael McDonagh’s ‘Calvary’, Lenny Abrahamson’s ‘Frank’, John Butler’s ‘The Stag’, and Neil Jordan’s ‘Byzantium’ are all gaining attention securing international distribution while also competing at international festivals. Many other features are also making waves including ‘The Sea’, ‘Last Days on Mars’, ‘Made in Belfast’ and so many more.


Of an equally superb standard is the brilliantly entertaining television drama being produced and filmed in Ireland for an global audience such as ‘Ripper Street’, ‘Moonfleet’, ‘The Fall’, ‘Vikings’, ‘Game of Thrones’, Love/Hate’, ‘Quirke’, ‘MoonBoy’ ‘Amber’ and more".


"All have key Irish HODs across their productions, with Irish craftspeople winning recognition and awards for their work both at home and abroad.


IFTN report that the appetite for high quality content has never been greater and that Irish graduates are rising to this challenge.


There is a proliferation of talented film and TV graduates emerging from the country’s top colleges each year. They are making "a significant contribution to the growth of an industry that now commands serious international attention".

A message from the Head of DBS Career Development and Student Services

As the Head of Careers and Student Services, I encourage you to take control of your career from your first day in Dublin Business School. There are numerous career management resources available to you as a DBS student. Our Careers Advisor is also available to provide you with one to one career consultation and career coaching services via appointment.


The Career Development team is committed to promoting opportunities aimed at enhancing your employability. They host various employer and professional body events throughout the year and regularly promote internal and external careers events to the student body via Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.



‘Drop In’ Career Clinic -
The drop in career clinic is designed to cater for students who would like to avail of a short consultation. Each attendee will be allocated approx. 10-15mins. For instant feedback and professional advice on your career prospects, come along to the ‘Drop-In Career Clinic. The clinic operates on Mondays between 2-4pm (during term) in Castle House on the 4th floor common area.


DBS Student Services  - The aim of the Student Services Department is to provide assistance to students across a broad range of academic and non-academic areas. The service endeavours to help students negotiate their way through college by providing tangible personal supports as well as a range of social and sporting opportunities.

Our Open Events are an ideal opportunity for you to visit the college and obtain further information on all our Evening Degree programmes and speak with industry specialist lecturers to identify the programme that is most suitable for your future development.
