100 things you need to know about college life
The first few months of college can be daunting. Not knowing where to go, who your class mates are and having loads of assignments thrown at you can be exhausting. Surviving the first few weeks can be hard without someone to advise you along the way.

The Irish Times published their article "100 things you need to know about college life" which provided students with 100 tips on everything they needs to know about college life.

The article is broken down into 11 sections, from Culture and Eating to Sports and Jobs and each section has some interesting facts and tips about surviving your first year of college.

Check out the Study and Exams sections for some interesting takes on how to handle studying in college, assignments and how to deal with exams. Fact no. 51 "Undergraduate life might be only the beginning. These days about 40 per cent of students proceed to a postgraduate course" can be something to think about in the future. If a postgraduate course is something that interests you, why not check out the Postgraduate Programmes offered at DBS.

What about tip no. 87 "There are two types of students: those who sign up for sports clubs at the beginning of first year and those who actually go. Neither group knows much about the other. One group is healthier, the other gets lie-ins. Your choice". With over 16 sports clubs in DBS, theres still time to join the healthier group and get sporty this year.

And if you're still looking for somewhere to live, or thinking about moving out of home, check out tip no. 86 "Serious advice: make sure you get a lease from your landlord". If your unsure of accommodation, or your rights as a tennant, talk to our Student Services team who are there to advise students on accomodation issues.
