Closing date for late CAO applications

The countdown to college is on, and a vital date to note is that late applications to the CAO must be received by the Wednesday the 1st of May 2013 at 17:15.

Applicants who have not yet submitted a CAO application must ensure that their application has been submitted by this date. Applications can be made online on the CAO website, or by posting your application form directly to the CAO office.

Applicants must not make more than one application (either online or paper). An extra €10 penalty charge will be levied if an applicant submits more than one application (either on-line or paper).

If you have already made an application and wish to change this, the Change of Mind facility will reopen on Saturday 5th May and will remain available until 5.15pm on July 1st.

Earn while you Learn - Apply for the Bachelor of Business in Retail Management with DBS and Lidl
Applications closing 31st May 2013 - apply today

With the application facility for the Bachelor of Business in Retail Management at Dublin Business School in conjunction with Lidl, now open students have the ideal opportunity to participate in an internationally recognised business degree programme where learning takes place both in the classroom and on the job, with tuition fees and a salary paid throughout the programme.

DBS has teamed up with one of Ireland's fastest growing retailers to offer ambitious students an opportunity to work and study while developing their future career.

The course is split 50/50 between college-based learning and work-based learning. The college-based learning takes place in Dublin Business School’s city centre campus and you will receive your work-based learning in a Lidl training store located in the Republic of Ireland, ideally close to your home town.

Students will study key business and marketing subjects which are directly linked to work-based application and 'learn by doing' opportunities in a workplace environment. Subjects studied include:

  • Retail Principles
  • Management
  • Services Marketing
  • Consumer and Buyer Behaviour
  • Business and Company Law

Upon completion of this programme, students will not only graduate from their degree programme, but will have an excellent chance of being offered a permanent Deputy Store Manager contract immediately.

Applications can only be made online via the Lidl Degree website, and applications close May 31st 2013, so immediate application is advised. For further information on this programme, please visit the DBS website or contact our admissions team on 01-4177500

Applications open for Transfer Students
We have been busy processing a number of applications from students who wish to transfer to DBS from other level 6 and 7 awards in DBS and also from other institutions.

If you are interested in discussing a possible transfer, contact the admissions office today! Remember - you will need a level 8 award to be eligible for the majority of masters programmes in Ireland. There is no fee to apply and no fee to have your file assessed so why not apply today and unlock your potential.

Why not check out the guidelines which generally apply to all transfer applications to see where you might fit in. It is important to note that the level at which you may enter a programme will not be confirmed until your application and official college transcripts have been received.

Higher Certificate Applicants:

A higher certificate sits at level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and as such applicants will generally be processed for entry to final year of an ordinary degree or 2nd year of an honours degree with 2 years left to complete. Obviously, the applicant must present evidence of having completed the same (or similar) modules as our own students would have in the form of academic transcripts.

Higher National Diploma Award Applicants:

A HND award is UK based and as such is not fully alligned to the Irish NFQ sitting in between level 6 and level 7. As a result of this, it must be treated as a level 6 award and the guidelines which apply to the Higher Certificates (above) will also apply to HND graduates.

FETAC level 6

FETAC level 6 graduates are also treated in the same way as Higher Certificate graduates

Ordinary Degree

An ordinary degree sits at level 7 on the NFQ and level 7 graduates will be processed for final year entry to an honours degree in a cognate discipline.

If you have any queries about the transfer application process please do not hesitate to contact the admissions office by calling 01 4177500 or by emailing admissions@dbs.ie
