Coca-Cola is Ireland’s biggest brand for 11th consecutive year

Coca-Cola has been named the biggest selling brand in Ireland for the eleventh year in a row in Checkout magazine’s list of the top 100 brands.

Irish brands are holding their own, according to the list, which places Avonmore in second place, Brennans bread in third and Tayto in fifth position.

Produced in association with Nielsen, the list is based on branded value sales across the Irish grocery sector.

Other Irish brands performing well in this year’s list include Jacob’s (9th), Club (13th), Irish Pride (14th), Dairygold (15th) and Pat the Baker (22nd). Flahavan’s (52nd), MiWadi (59th) and Brady Family ham (61st) have all achieved their highest ever position in this year’s chart.

“It’s never been as competitive in the Irish grocery landscape, and Ireland’s biggest brands have risen to the challenge,” said Checkout editor, Stephen Wynne-Jones. “While Irish shoppers are largely creatures of habit, this year’s Top 100 indicates that consumers are willing to switch, provided their quality and value expectations are met.”

The biggest mover in the list is Carroll Meats, which climbs 41 places to 72nd.  According to Checkout, 24 brands have risen by five places or more in the list.
