Ireland's Star Cricketeer Meets Prospective Students

Prasad Kholli, the DBS India Country Manager, joined up with International Cricketer, Kevin O'Brien on the recent Enterprise Ireland Trade mission to India.   The mission held events in New Delhi, Bangladore, and Mumbai all of which attracted significant interest from students. 


Kevin O'Brien is a sporting hero both in India and Ireland; he holds the world record for the fastest century ever scored at a World Cup; coming from 50 balls against England on 2 March 2011. Kevin is pictured below with some students at the student fair in Bangalore. Speaking about the student fair in Bangalore, Prasad Kholli said “Compared to last year, the fair iwas a great success with 283 prospective students showing up.  We have already 16 students who have since made applications to DBS.  We are continuing to see an upswing in interest in studying in Ireland from Indian students given the continued revival of the Irish economy, the fast turnaround time in visa decisions and the growing recognition of DBS's postgraduate programmes."
 
DBS Announces First Latin American Partner University

In October DBS signed a partnership with ESPM in Sao Paulo. ESPM is one of Latin America’s most prestigious business schools. The signing took place in Sao Paulo in the presence of the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, and Minister of State, Joe Higgins TD. 


ESPM Ecole Superior de Propoganda e Marketing is a reknowned business school specialising in all areas related to marketing and media. "The partnership with ESPM is an excellent match for Dublin Business School, explained International Recruitment manager Jonathan Duignan on a recent trip to Sao Paulo.
" Not only their reputation and portfolio of programmes,  but their ecommitment to students which is evident walking around the campus made ESPM a natural fit for DBS. While many HE institutions are looking to Brazil on account of the Science Without Borders  Scholarships, DBS is seeking to develop longer-term relationship which will include student and faculty exchange and joint reseach"
 
Promising Partnerships Forged During Busy Conference Season

The autumn was a busy period for the international team at Dublin Business School who attended The EAIE conference in Dublin, the ICEF Higher Education Workshop in Dublin, the Alphe Fair in Miami. and the Education in Ireland missions to Brazil and India.    These events allowed us catch up with old friends and make new contacts.  Serveral exciting new partnerships have been agreed in recent months.




Among the new agencies with whom DBS hopes to work closely in 2013 are Brand New Consulting (China) Fab Consulting Ltd (Nigeria), GDL Travel (Mexico) Student Overseas Network (Pakistan)  MNB (Russia)  Libra (Georgia) and Overseas Zone (Indonesia).
 
Streamlined Process Leads to Faster Visa Approval for Indian Students

Since the introduction of the Trusted Agent Scheme is 2011, our Indian students have enjoyed an improved visa approval rate. “We are currently enjoying  a near 100% success rate, and an average decision time of 21 days” according to India Country Manager, Prasad Kholli. “ there was a temporary blip as the embassy relocated in a new premises  in early December, but turnaround times are back on track.”  Pictured during the recent visit to the Irish embassy in Delhi are Jonathan Duignan, DBS, Catherine McManus, Dept. of Justice, Genevieve Farrelly Department of Justice.   


January Intake

"We are witnessing continued growth for the third consecutive intake. The spring start date is popular with Middle Eastern, North American, and European students. It also allows students who started on the pre-masters and pre-undergraduate programmes in Sept start their full academic courses” says Giles Kilcoyne, the DBS Admissions manager. Places still available in the following courses. Giles and the admission team will be working hard over the Christmas period to ensure late applications are processed in time for the start of term on January 21st.
