This week's newsletter we are placing our focus back on the School of Business to look at the BA (Hons) Business Studies (with work placement). We review the course content and what career opportunities are available to graduates.

The BA (Hons) Business Studies (with work placement) if the only 4 year programme offered by DBS. It is designed to give a clearly structured business education that provides a solid foundation for success in a business career and a strong grounding in fundamental business concepts, ideas, practices and methodologies. Students are also provided with a good understanding of general business theory and practice and critical knowledge and skills that will enable an effective contribution to the resolution of business problems. It will prepare students for the challenges posed by the dynamic nature of the modern business environment.

The programme content of the BA (Hons) Business Studies (with work placement) differers from other Business programmes offered by DBS. Students attend classes as normal throughout first and second and forth year. It is in thrid year that things change! Students are provided with the opportunity to gain practical work experience over a forty-eight week period and can specialise in an area that reflects their course preferences and career ambitions. Students are paid by the company for the duration of their placement and are treated as full-time members of staff. The great thing about this course is that it provides students with that crutial work experience that employers look for from graduates.

Because of the broad spectrum of subjects studied, career opportunities for business studies students are numerous. The wide-ranging nature of knowledge and skills gained by business graduates makes them an attractive proposition for any prospective employer.
