Ireland ranked ninth in the world’s best performing education systems

Ireland has been ranked ninth in the world’s best performing education systems.  The Learning Curve, a report compiled by The Economist Intelligence Unit and published by Pearson, aims to explain the influential factors behind the best performing education systems around the world.

The ranking is based on a range of indicators, including performance in three respected international testing programmes – Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), and the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).

TOP 10 EDUCATION SYSTEMS

  • 1. South Korea
  • 2. Japan
  • 3. Singapore
  • 4. Hong Kong
  • 5. Finland
  • 6. UK
  • 7. Canada
  • 8. Netherlands
  • 9. Ireland
  • 10. Poland

According to the findings, not only is Ireland one of the 10 best performing education systems in the world, it also ranks fourth overall in Europe behind Finland, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The report further showcases how Ireland continues to be an attractive destination for international students. High emphasis on innovative research and progressive taught programmes at all levels has given Ireland a strong reputation educationally on a global scale, and graduates from within the Irish educational system remain highly sought after in today's competitive international workplace.
