For over two decades, Dublin Business School have been established and respected providers of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of Psychology, Counselling and Psychotherapy and Addiction Studies. Our programmes are recognised by professional accreditation bodies including the Psychological Society of Ireland and the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

 

In response to demand, we are offering 10 week Professional Evening Diploma Courses in these areas. 


These courses are designed to equip students with an excellent knowledge of the area to support their current occupation or interest, and applications are now being accepted for next week start dates.

The programmes additionally serve as an ideal opportunity for students to sample an academic area before committing to a degree or masters programme in the future.

Professional Legal Studies Diplomas commencing February 2013 at DBS

Applications are now being accepted for our comprehensive range of Professional Evening Diploma programmes in various legal disciplines, due to commence February and March 2013. Delivered by qualified and practicing Solicitors and Barristers and often incorporating insightful guest speakers, these courses will provide in-depth and current legal knowledge relevant to today's corporate sector.

 

Dublin Business School has a proud tradition of delivering excellence in education in the Legal field, and our Professional Legal Diplomas have been designed to deliver a specialist knowledge in specific legal fields, as required by our students with limited or no legal background.


For those seeking a broad understanding of current Irish Law, our Diploma in Legal Studies and Advanced Diploma in Legal Studies will provide an introduction to the core aspects of Irish law and the legal system, as recognised by the legal profession. It is intended to provide an understanding of Constitutional Law Principles, Contract, Tort, Criminal and Company Law issues and the law as it relates to property in Ireland.

 

 

Our popular Diploma in Employment Law provides students with an overview of the laws and regulations that affect the functioning of the employment relationship. The course examines the duties of both employees and employers and attempts to provide students with a broad understanding of employment law issues through the analysis of existing legislation and case law.


This course is especially relevant to human resource executives, legal secretaries and trade union or employer’s association representatives. In addition any person who has a general interest in the area or is affected by any of the areas covered by the course will find the content of relevance and interest

 

At this turbulent time in the corporate world, the Diploma in Company Law aims to develop students knowledge and understanding of the purpose of Company Law in a business context and guide students in the legal principles involved in the formation, ownership and management of a company. It will equip students with the knowledge of the Common Law rules and the legislation regulating companies and expose them to cutting-edge debates in company law and provide opportunities for students to develop critical skills in these areas.

Diploma in Media Law seeks to familiarise students with the basic concepts and structure of media law. Students will look at the various forms of media law today, concentrating on defamation, court reporting and copyright law as it exists in Ireland and the UK. It will further explore more specific issues in relation to awards in defamation cases, privacy and examine general contract principles as they underlie entertainment law.

Our Coaching for Performance 10-week course is aimed at all who are, or are intending to be, involved in managing people or working as a part of a team. This course will also benefit HR Professionals with an interest in Performance Management and People Development. It covers the key principles of coaching and gives students the skills and confidence to coach, influence and motivate others in order to maximise their potential.





The lecturer Gay White has extensive experience, over 30 years within HR consultancy environment with focus on Performance Management, Learning and Development and Executive Coaching. Gay is MSc qualified in Occupational Psychology and an AC Accredited Coach with Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching. Ms. White currently holds the role of Head of Professional Forums of the Association for Coaching Ireland.

The programme commences on February 14th and the classes are running every Thursday evening for 10 weeks.

10-week evening courses to uncover the basics of forensics and criminology
DBS is running another intake of two professional, skills-based courses exploring the techniques of criminology and crime scene investigation this Spring 2013. 



Diploma in Crime Scene Investigation: 10  week course taking place one evening per week on Mondays from 6.15pm to 8.30pm
  •  The course introduces participants to the theory surrounding criminal investigative procedures with a particular focus on forensic science and criminal profiling
  • The programme is designed for those who wish to gain foundation knowledge in and an appreciation of crime scene investigation.

Diploma in Criminology: 10  week course taking place one evening per week on Thursdays from 6.15pm to 8.30pm
  • This programme introduces students to the study of all aspects of crime in our society from basic theories in criminology through to in-depth analysis of the main causes of crime and the profiles of criminals
  • The course also incorporates an examination of the Criminal Justice System both in a domestic and international context.
