Over 130 jobs for Limerick, Dublin & Mayo

Information Technology Shared Services, a division of Johnson & Johnson Services, is to create the centre at the National Technology Park at Plassey in Limerick.

Recruitment for positions will start immediately.

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, through IDA Ireland.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, who announced the creation of the centre, called the jobs "a great boost".

"Multinational investment plays a key part in our jobs plan, and in recent years we have seen a very strong performance in this area," Mr Bruton said.

Johnson & Johnson employs over 2,000 people through its companies in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.

Separately, ten jobs are to be created at an IT consultancy firm in Dublin.

E-MIT Solutions said the jobs come as part of a €650,000 expansion, and would be based at its headquarters in Santry.

The company provides IT solutions, including consulting, outsourced IT management and cloud computing.

The roles to be filled include technical consultants, IT service management and sales and marketing roles, the company said.

E-MIT also announced the appointment of solicitor Finbarr Crowley as a non-executive chairman.

"We are very excited by this expansion and are looking forward to welcoming new members to the team who are just as passionate about IT and business as we are," said E-MIT Managing Director Eamon Moore.

In Co Mayo, a leading banking and consumer finance company Lafferty Group is to create 20 jobs over the next two years.

The group is expanding its global reach in finance and banking research and publishing.
